President Karzai Leaves on 3-day Official Visit to Turkey
December 11, 2012 - President Hamid Karzai, leading a high-level delegation, left before noon on a three-day official visit to Ankara, the Capital of Turkey to attend the 7th trilateral summit between Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey.
On the sideline of the trilateral summit, President Karzai is scheduled to hold separate meetings with Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss issues of mutual interest including ways to broaden bilateral relations in different areas between the two countries.
The President will separately meet with Asif Ali Zardari President of Pakistan to exchange views on bilateral cooperation between Afghanistan and Pakistan, recent developments in the peace process and to discuss, based on evidence and information, the assassination attempt against the Director of National Security-Asadullah Khalid.
President Karzai is accompanied on this trip by Foreign Minister Dr. Zalmai Rasoul, Chairman of High Peace Council Salahuddin Rabbani, Minister of Interior Ghulam Mujtaba Patang, National Security Advisor Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Minister of Transport & Civil Aviation Daoud Ali Najafi, Minister of Public Affairs Najibullah Ozhan, Chief of Army Staff General Sher Muhammad Karimi, Presidential Advisor on International Relations Yahya Marufi, Acting Director of National Security Hasamuddin Marzi, Political Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Jawed Ludin, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President Homaira Lodin Etmadi and Presidential Spokesman Aimal Faizi.
